The real estate market has been sluggish and you should be able to find a good deal this winter!  Homesellers are just waiting for offers.  With the recession in full force, many homesellers are getting nervous about selling.  Afterall, carrying taxes, utilities, insurance and mortgage payments on a vacant property is not pleasant.

Find a Buyer agent and let him or her go to work for you.  Take advantage of the good interest rates and tax credits.  If you are in a position to do so, this may be one of the best times to buy in recent years.
